the recap

We caught up with Mr. Maverick Squires after he judged the barrows at the 2022 San Antonio Stock Show. Check out his thoughts below... |
Tell us a little bit about your champion.
The show was over when the champion hit the ring in class! His look was so much different than the rest!
Did any breeds surprise you?
The hamp breed really surprised me! The hamps came the first day and we’re elite from the first class and stayed that way through the heavys.
What was the toughest class of the day/show?
There was an incredible class in the middleweight darks. I can remember Arnold sending a bunch to the scales and telling me how good this class was getting ready to look when we were walking to Dead Sea. They were like 11 or 12 deep.
For you, what was the most memorable moment of the show?
My most memorable moment of the show was during the champion hampshire drive! Evaluating the champion hamp at that moment in time was so fun for me. He offered so many uncommon traits that were on one skeleton. He was showing with other division winners, but I couldn’t even hardly look at the others- I was so intrigued by the champion.
What was the best meal you had?
We were fortunate to have great cooks at the stock show! The chef made Hamburger steak, mashed potatoes and gravy one day for lunch. It was the best hamburger steak I’ve ever had!
