It’s not very often that we have two judges with such a unique long-term relationship/friendship. Please tell us a little about your history together.
In 1998, I got to meet Dan and quickly decided to go to Blackhawk where he was my coach, teacher and mentor. I was fortunate enough to come back and coach and teach alongside him where, yes, we were colleagues, but his mentorship and friendship continued. For the last 17 years, we have stayed connected and when I get to see him at an industry/college event or function, it’s always special.

Given the many years that you have known each other, previously worked together, and your teacher/student relationship what is one or more fond memories of each other?
There are several with many hours together over those years, but a couple stand out for me personally. One was when Dan let me collect cards and jump into coaching headfirst on the "pilgrimage" (pig judging workouts) on the way to The National Barrow show. It was like he trusted me with the keys, or at least one key.

The second was when I got called to judge a pretty big show and the guidance and prep he invested in me leading up to that. How the show flows, pace and efficiency etc 

A light-hearted memory?
Dan will not think this is funny but I was driving the van on the way to a judging workout and he was taking one of his famous 10-15 power naps. I had students count to 3 and I hit the brakes and they screamed. He did not think that was funny!

What does it mean to you to judge OYE Barrows along side each other?
Bucket list, dream come true...... anything in that description you want to call it....But most importantly it’s an honor!
