Hometown: Walton, IN
Occupation: I wear a few different hats, the main being working for my family farm, Shaffer’s Goldrush. Along with my husband Kyle, we run Pullen Showpigs, an all Duroc sow herd. Also, I am part owner of Walton Webcasting, livestock like you’ve never seen before!
What is your background in the swine/livestock industry?
I have live, breathed and died this industry for my entire life! Growing up on my family’s farm and showing livestock for my entire youth. I was on the livestock judging team at both Butler Community College and Purdue University, where I graduated with a degree in Ag Education. Since then I have dedicated my career and hobbies to be all things show pigs. I have had the great opportunity to serve on the NSR Executive Board, ALA Board, and Youth Advisory Board. It has also been a fun ride being apart of the Walton Webcasting crew, watching our industry change and be able to watch shows 24/7!
How did you get started?
I was born into it and had no other option but to fall in love with the swine industry. I grew up on my family’s commercial farm and boar stud. As we grew up we took more interest in the show pig industry and joined the NJSA in the early 2000s and the rest is history as I’ve spent my entire life dedicated to it ever since.
