It’s not very often that we have two judges with such a unique long-term relationship/friendship. Please tell us a little about your history together.
Andy was a student at Black Hawk and a member of our livestock judging team. He was an excellent student and an exceptional collegiate judge. He continued his successes at Western with the late Bruce Engnell! Upon graduation, he came to BHE to coach after Lee Denzer moved into administration after coaching with me 15 years! Andy added drive and enthusiasm to the judging program as he worked with the 03-05 team enroute to a National JR College Championship! After 2 and a half years, he joined industry!!!

Given the many years that you have known each other, previously worked together, and your teacher/student relationship what is one or more fond memories of each other?
He has never forgotten his roots in Indiana, but his collegiate home and home to his family in Kewanee, IL. If we have ever need anything at the college, he is always there to help!

A light-hearted memory?
When Andy was a first semester freshman, he was always the first in to give reasons. They were good but would offer suggestions. After several weeks, I asked him why he was always in a hurry and first to give. He answered he had “things” to do! I responded, If you would take more time to work at this you could possibly be a successful judge someday!  The rest is history! 

What does it mean to you to judge OYE Barrows along side each other?
Exciting, honored, and humbling! He moves so fast. I’m nervous how often he will have to wait on me sifting.
