What’s a non-negotiable as you sort a class?
Comfort level is very big for me; especially at bigger shows where the classes take time to sort.

Biggest pet peeve when judging?
This one is easy to answer, a good pig with bad skin and hair.

How do you keep from mental exhaustion during a long day of judging?
In this situation I believe that passion overpowers exhaustion. It’s pretty easy to stay engaged while doing something that you love to do. Lastly, I believe that the kids showing heavyweight crossbreds deserve the same attention to detail and effort as the kids that showed lightweight Berks, and I try to make that happen every time I step in the ring.

Does any advice from mentors come to mind as you judge?
As a college kid I was very fortunate to get to spend a lot of time riding around with Cantrell. I can remember us talking about a specific pair of pigs one time and he told me that it normally sorts itself out if you step back away from them and ask yourself which one looks like they are supposed to win. I always try to do that. The way I describe to the people who ask me now about my judging ideology is this, “Let the good pig win!” Sounds simple but I think judges sometimes can over analyze or over criticize a pig and single trait them to the top or bottom of a class. I try hard not to do that.

If you aren’t at a pig show or judging, where might we find you?
Most recently you could find me with my eldest daughter playing “Do you wanna build a snowman?” Which is always fun because she is obviously Elsa which allows me to be Anna who gets all the singing parts….

Tell us about your family! 
As you can probably tell from the above prompt, my girls are my world. Here is the quick break down. Alli- beautiful wife that I absolutely do not deserve- FARROWING HOUSE LEGEND- BEST MOMMA AROUND! Jadie- Coolest kid on the planet- very scared her ability to bat her eyes at me and say “Please Dada?” is going to bankrupt me some day. Tatum Blake- AKA Tato- loves chips, her momma, and reading books. Will steal food from anyone!
