inside the ring

We caught up with Mr. Adam Beck before he judges the Crossbred Gilts at the 2022 NAILE. Check out his thoughts below... |
Are you big on grand drive speeches?
I always talk a little bit, but I wouldn’t say I’m a huge Grand Drive speech kind of guy.
What is your dream job?
I am very fortunate to work everyday with a great crew on a job that I always dreamed of having! Raising pigs and having a boar stud with my family!
What is one thing you feel like is important that showman have gone away from? Why?
Just allowing the pig that they are showing to move at a nice steady gate without trying to make them pick apples out of the sky. It is nice to see them with their head held level out of their shoulder and blade, but when it is over done it can definitely make their animal look out of balance.
Are you big on first impressions? If so, why?
First impressions are huge! Wether it be in the show ring or outside of it they make a big impact!
Who got you involved in the livestock industry?
Being involved in the livestock industry has always been something that I have wanted to do since I was a little boy. My Dad (Dave) and my Grandpa Beck (Snider) have always been huge supporters from an early age taking me to shows and helping me get started with my sow herd when I was very young!
Tell us about your family!
I am very blessed to be married to my wife Sarah. We have been married for 12 years, and have 5 amazing children! Kayla is 17 and enjoys showing pigs and hanging out with her friends. Lily is 11 and enjoys showing pigs, especially her Tams, showing her horses and being on the middle school cheer team. Willow is 10 and enjoys showing her horses, being on 3 competitive cheer teams, and showing pigs. Briggs is 4 and loves everything to do with the farm and anything that he can ride (tractor, lawn mower, and his bike). Saylor just turned a year old in September and we have really enjoyed watching her as she is taking her first steps and learning new stuff everyday! She is extremely happy and carefree! God has truly blessed us! |
