We caught up with Mr. Brayden Lancaster, exhibitor of the Reserve Grand Champion Purebred Barrow at the 2022 National Junior Summer Spectacular. Learn a little more about Brayden below!

How long of a drive was it?
I live very close to Louisville, so it was only an hour drive.

Favorite thing about the trip?
My favorite thing about the trip was seeing my friends from around the country who I can only see a couple times a year!

Do you have superstitions?
No

Favorite show shirt?
My favorite show shirt is the pink one I wore in the grand drive at NJSS.

Favorite product used on your animal?
My favorite product is Kentucky Shine.

Favorite celebration restaurant?
Texas Roadhouse without a doubt!

Who did you enjoy seeing the most at the show?
I enjoyed seeing many people while I was there.

Favorite gas station food on a road trip:
My favorite gas station food is Casey’s pizza.

Tell us a little bit about your champion:
He was always a very good natured barrow, he would always eat and respond to what we fed him, lastly he would perform at every show we took him to and he never got sick after them.

Favorite thing to do at shows (besides showing):
My favorite thing to do at shows is get my pigs ready, I also enjoy seeing and hanging out with all the friends I’ve made over the years!

What was the personality of your barrow?
York - He was always fun and loving barrow.

Berk - He was stubborn when I walk him but other than that he is loving and funny!

Cross - My barrow was almost always a happy and good mannered pig even though sometimes he was a little hard headed.

The hardest thing about showing pigs is....
The hardest thing about showing pigs is the hustle everyday and the countless hours spent in the barn especially not knowing what can happen to one of your pigs from day to day.

What's the last thing your parents or supporters tell you before you go in the ring?
“Do your thing!”
“Drive the wheels off him”
