Age: 17

Hometown:Iliff, Colorado

Favorite thing to do at shows (besides showing):
Hangout with people from all over that I never get to see and making new friends. Not to mention the fried food!

What was the personality of your gilt?
My barrow was one of the sweetest pigs I’ve ever had. From the moment he was a baby, I loved him. My older sister always fought with me when we went to walk pigs because she wanted to walk him.(he was the easiest to train and walk).

The hardest thing about showing pigs is....
The hardest thing about showing pigs is learning the difficult life lessons that come with it. Losing for example has taught me to be a gracious winner and loser. It taught me that hard work pays off but sometimes you don’t place the way you what. This taught me to work even harder to achieve my goals.

What's the last thing your parents or supporters tell you before you go in the ring?

The last thing my dad told me before I went into the ring with my barrow was no matter how you do I’ll be proud of you. Before the champion drive, I was as nervous as I have ever been. Winning state fair was one of my biggest goals(my whole family’s). Dan Young, the breeder of my barrow told me to go get them because my pig knew he was ready and he had to do his job. My barrow was running circles in his pen, making Dan say this to me.

Favorite Show Pig Product to Use:
My favorite show pig product to use is champions choice. We have used it for years and it works really well.

Favorite Song or Band:
Man! I Feel Like a Woman by Shania Twain

Favorite Sport Team:
Denver Broncos

Alli Stromberger - Exhibitor Spotlight - The Pig Planet

We caught up with Ms. Alli Stromberger, Exhibitor of the 2020 National Western Grand Champion Market Hog. Learn a little more about Alli below!

Hometown: Iliff, Colorado (Caliche High School)

How did you get started showing pigs?
My Aunt Jess showed pigs in 4H, and when my sister and I were small, we would go to my grandparents house and help her with her pigs. As my older sister Brooke got to 4H age, she decided to show pigs herself. After a few years of helping her, I was finally old enough to show pigs myself!

Brooke was my biggest influence in showing. We fought like normal sisters, but what I learned from her are things I will never forget. Not only how to feed a pig or how to show, but how to win gracefully and how to get up and keep trying when you fail.

The Best Piece of Showing Advice/Showmanship Advice I've Ever Received:
Showmanship starts the day you buy your pig! As my Dad has always told me, it’s not only the week of the show that matters. It’s the never ending hours of walking, washing, cleaning pens and showmanship practice that helps to stand out in the showring!

My Favorite Animal I Ever Showed:
I have three pigs that I will never forget. My first big win was with my duroc, Anna, as Reserve Grand Champion at the Colorado State Fair in 2016. My gilt, Lizzo, got me the Aksarben banner in 2019 and she will forever be my favorite gilt. My favorite barrow, Monster, gave me so many unforgettable memories from NWSS 2020. These three will always have a special place in my heart!

Hobbies Outside of Showing Livestock:
Although most of my time is spent in the barn, I enjoy playing basketball, reading and hanging out with friends and family.

Most Embarrassing Stock Show Moment:

My most embarrassing moment was at my county fair. I had the wrong pig in the wrong class! My pigs were all lightweights, and we mixed two up!

When I Grow Up I Want To....
As I get older I strive to be the person that little kids tell their parents they want to be some day. Not only because of my success, but because of the way I treat others and how I make people feel about themselves. After I graduate high school and college, I would love to have a career where I can help kids be the best version of themselves.

Favorite Stock Show Snack/Food:

Red Vine Licorice...if Carson doesn’t eat it all!
Peanuts...if Jason doesn’t find them first!
Iced Animal Crackers...if Zach doesn’t devour them!
