What was your opinion of your champion as a baby?
We kept all the Hampshire gilts we raised but one from the summer crop. This litter was by far the best and looked the same the whole time.
Favorite sow? Why?
Boys show gilts always make the favorite sows! No favorite really.
What has been the scariest decision for your operation?
When you make a decision to build a new facility
At what age, do you ear notch babies?
7-10 days
Growing up what did you think your occupation would be?
It varied, landscape Architect to a livestock breeder |

Was 2nd Grand at Western for Jack and the Backman crew at Western Regional with a Platt Yorkshire Gilt in 3 years!

Depends on the day...lots of boys show gilts grow close to us

Outwork the rest and get involved with the right crowd!

80-8 is my favorite.

What's your favorite sow on the farm?
Many favorites at the farm but the Kilmer york gilt our son showed and won 2020 NJSS last summer is pretty close to our hearts!!!

Outwork the others and get connected with someone that can lead you the right direction and help you with questions.

Anything -8 in either ear I like

What's next for your showpig business? (Upcoming sales, exciting matings, future goals/expansions, etc)
We are pushing along the same everyday and always looking for the next step to make good pigs. Buying boars or females that we think fit our program.
