If you have a person starting out, what is one tip on facility design you would suggest to them?
Functional. Make sure it’s practical & functional. Who cares how pretty it looks, if doesn’t work well it will be an uphill battle. Also concrete, is your best friend.
What do you consider the most influential sow/boar in the showpig industry or your herd?
There’s been so many boars in this industry that have been influential it’s hard to name them. For myself, breeding Yorkshire hogs there’s been several. We have had many boars from breeders like, Jim Grimm, Chuck Olsen & Brent Bolen that have left a mark in our program. In recent years in our herd the most influential boar has been Woolly Legs, that we purchased from Chuck & Ben Olsen in 2017.
