Who was someone who helped you get your foot in the door and get your operation started?
Lyle Dorjahn was the first guy that taught me a lot about this industry.
The ideal customer to me is...
The ideal customer to me is one I can count on to be loyal and work hard! I work hard all year to produce the best pigs I possibly can, I like customers that work hard after they buy those pigs to get the most they can out of them. We both work towards a common goal to be successful. |

How did you get involved in the swine industry?
Grew up in the swine industry
With this being one of the major shows of the summer, how rewarding was it to capture a win?
Extremely. Always nice to get a big win and keeps your motivation high!
With the pandemic, what struggles have you faced as a breeder and how do you think the show world will evolve with the problems we are facing?
As far as the struggles, it is more about talking your customer base through it and convincing them that there will still be plenty if shows to attend. The pandemic has made us more aware of how valuable and fragile our industry is, we will learn things through this that will make us more efficient at shows and at home. It will remind us how lucky we are and how nice it is to just be around like minded people at shows!
What breeding decision are you most excited about for the next breeding/farrowing season?
Going back and using some frozen semen to try to expand the genetic base. |
